Hidden Bulb Cake

Hidden Bulb CakePicture this: It’s Friday night 9am, my kitchen and I are covered head to toe in a mixture of ganache, beetroot and  food colouring, whilst wondering how to create a terracotta pot out of marzipan. Admittedly a strange combination when you write it down, but, amazingly, came together to form this rustic edible garden scene. The reason for such a monumental cake was to celebrate a monumental occasion. My parents were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary at the weekend. Within this 40 years they have managed to cram in 23 moves (I’m talking houses, not zumba), 3 children, 3 grandchildren, collect a CBE, create an oasis like garden and on the whole be pretty fabulous parents. It’s quite difficult to reflect this in a sponge, but I did my best…
